Artecasa Lugano 2020 - L'Interior Designer in Smart Working

Purtroppo a causa delle restringenti norme di sicurezza per Covid-19, il progetto relativo alle conferenze del 2020 è stato correttamente spostato al prossimo anno.
Ho voluto dare comunque una continuità all'evento ARTECASA, che celebra il concetto di abitare nella bellissima città di Lugano, dove arte, design e ospitalità sono di casa, pubblicando in forma di articolo il mio intervento.
“La persona al centro dell’abitare” è l’affermazione più azzeccata del momento che ho rubato ad Artecasa dal loro sito.
Le difficoltà che stiamo vivendo oggi, ci stanno portando a scoprire e migliorare il lifestyle del nostro domani.
Nel corso del 2020 abbiamo spostato il centro della nostra socialità, in modo forzato, dal mondo esterno, fatto di locali e centri ricreativi, all’interno della nostra casa.
I nostri salotti sono diventati il fulcro dell’attività quotidiana, dove lavorare, studiare e socializzare in sicurezza, e anche al di fuori del lockdown, restano ancora i protaganisti.
Importanti produttori di forniture e Contest studiati appositamente per le esigenze di oggi, hanno invitato Designer e Architetti a sviluppare arredi ed ambienti che possano avere la multifunzionalità oggi richiesta sia a casa che sul lavoro (ad esempio: postazioni di co-working, svilluppo di open space, e organizzazione della postazione di lavoro a casa).
La casa del futuro quindi, oltre ad avere un occhio al "green", strada che abbiamo intrapreso anni fa e che dobbiamo continuare a percorrere, dev’essere anche di un buon design e di soluzioni tecnologiche ed intelligenti per favorire la svolgimento della propria vita.
La storia ci insegna che le crisi sono le opportunità, e già si parla di un secondo Rinascimento.
In effetti il Coronavirus ha cambiato il nostro modo di vivere imponendo la parola: distanziamento sociale, quindi cambieranno anche gli spazi in cui viviamo e lavoriamo.
Designer nominati hanno creato diverse collezioni d’oggetti in tema, come i paraventi per separare tavoli e postazioni di lavoro, o le sospensioni isolanti di plexiglass sempre per non sentirsi completamente isolati e continuare una vita sociale anche all’esterno.
Considerato che il design è nato negli anni 50 proprio per la voglia di riscatto post-guerra, diventando il decodificatore delle necessità e dei desideri dell’uomo, ci aspettiamo che anche oggi sia un fondamentale strumento di adeguamento alle nostre aspettative.
La nostra eclettica professione, ovvero quella dell’Interior Designer, deve farci riscoprire l’importanza e la sensibilità dell’ambiente che ci circonda, facendo emozionare ancora di più, proprio per il momento che stiamo vivendo.
Come è cambiato il mio modo di lavorare?
Il mio studio è una start up, aperta a febbraio del 2019.
Ho passato l’intero anno, viaggiando per fiere in Europa e all’estero per scoprire nuove proposte e nuovi fornitori.
L’inizio del 2020 è stato uno stop, soprattutto per chi come me vive in Italia e lavora qui a Lugano.
Il nostro lockdown è stato forte e mi ha portato a un momento di riflessione per capire come poter sviluppare una start up a distanza e da casa.
Sicuramente la digitalizzazione dell’attività è stata il fulcro per non bloccarsi.
Social, corsi on line, aggiornamenti, contratto con web agency e partecipazioni a Contest, è stato il mio quotidiano.
La mia opportunità derivante dalla crisi, è l’ambito in cui noi Interior Designer lavoriamo.
Il fatto che tutti hanno dovuto ritrovarsi per obbligo e per sicurezza nelle proprie abitazioni, senza uscire, fare shopping, ha portato a spostare l’attenzione dall’esterno all’interno.
Ed ecco che molti hanno iniziato a voler migliorare, rimodernare, adattare la propria casa al nuovo stile.
Ho creato quindi dei pacchetti/consulenze da vendere on line e da progettare on line.
Numerose sono state le richieste di contatto per informazioni e progettazioni che oggi sto realizzando.
Ho avuto più tempo per disegnare oggetti e prodotti che oggi ho brevettato e che intendo realizzare, dando un punto a favore per essere più visibili.
Ho voluto mettere a frutto le mie esperienze, soprattutto quelle passate, per creare e costruire una rete di studi sul territorio che oggi sto organizzando e pianificando come su Ginevra, Zurigo e Lugano, oltre all’Italia.
Qui sono alla ricerca di altri Designer che vogliano fare gruppo e vogliano creare un qualcosa che non si ferma anche davanti ad un lockdown, generando lavoro e facendo comunque muovere l’economia.
Per tornare allo smart working, come possiamo creare uffici smart a casa?
A casa, in primis è necessario definire l’area, la cosa migliore è che ci sia un confine tra lo spazio dedicato al lavoro e quello della vita privata, meglio se fisico.
Si possono creare divisori con scaffali, piante, paraventi, per avere un po’ di privacy, necessaria anche per le video call.
Considerate la posizione delle finestre e quindi mettetevi parallelamente alla fonte di luce per evitare riverbero o l’effetto abbagliante sullo schermo.
Il piano d’appoggio che diventerà la vostra scrivania è meglio che non abbia la superficie bianca o lucida, sempre per i fastidiosi riflessi.
Fate attenzione al rapporto tra l’altezza del piano e la seduta.
Per l’illuminazione l’ideale sarebbe avere una fonte di luce diffusa diretta, possibilmente naturale, o a soffitto artificiale con toni caldi.
E sul posto di lavoro?
Ho partecipato alla Call4solution di Hi-hack, un programma di Open Innovation dedicato all’evoluzione tecnologica del Design presente anche al Fuori Salone di Milano.
E’ stato mixato il Design alla tecnologia, e qui diversi Designer sono stati chiamati per interpretare con idee progettuali le migliori soluzioni per realizzare rapidamente un ritorno in sicurezza nei luoghi di lavoro post Covid-19.
Insieme alla mia collaboratrice, abbiamo presentato un progetto che ho chiamato “Circular World” facendo interagire, geometrie e tecnologia in una struttura circolare.
Questo progetto coinvolge start up innovative che abbiamo scelto tra quelle disponibili alla call di Hi-hack.
In particolare abbiamo inserito moduli a soffitto per un obbiettivo visivo, acustico ed estetico, insieme a tecnologia per ricarica wireless su scrivania, evitando i soliti giri di cavi, e l’utilizzo di un software appositamente studiato per gestire in modo sicuro la postazione che spazia dalla prenotazione, alla qualità ambientale come luci, tende, condizionamento termico, purificazione dell’aria e sistemi audio-video.
Spero di aver portato una testimonianza fresca ed utile, e che possa portare a sviluppi e collaborazioni anche esternamente l’evento Artecasa.

Unfortunately due to the tightening safety regulations for Covid-19, the 2020 conference project has been correctly moved to next year.
However, I wanted to give continuity to the ARTECASA event, which celebrates the concept of living in the beautiful city of Lugano, where art, design and hospitality are at home, by publishing my speech as an article.
"The person at the center of living" is the most apt statement of the moment that I stole from Artecasa from their website.
The difficulties we are experiencing today are leading us to discover and improve the lifestyle of our tomorrow.
During 2020, we forced the center of our sociability to be moved from the outside world, made up of clubs and recreational centers, inside our home.
Our lounges have become the hub of daily activity, where to work, study and socialize in safety, and even outside the lockdown, the protagonists still remain.
Important manufacturers of supplies and Contests designed specifically for today's needs, have invited designers and architects to develop furnishings and environments that can have the multifunctionality required today both at home and at work (for example: co-working stations, development of open space, and organization of the workstation at home).
The house of the future, therefore, in addition to having an eye on the "green", a path we took years ago and that we must continue to follow, must also have good design and technological and intelligent solutions to facilitate the development of one's life.
History teaches us that crises are opportunities, and there is already talk of a second Renaissance.
In fact, the Coronavirus has changed our way of life by imposing the word: social distancing, so the spaces in which we live and work will also change.
Appointed designers have created various collections of objects on the subject, such as screens to separate tables and workstations, or insulating plexiglass suspensions, always to not feel completely isolated and continue a social life even outside.
Considering that design was born in the 1950s precisely because of the desire for post-war redemption, becoming the decoder of man's needs and desires, we expect that even today it is a fundamental tool for adapting to our expectations.
Our eclectic profession, that of the Interior Designer, must make us rediscover the importance and sensitivity of the environment that surrounds us, making us even more excited, precisely for the moment we are living.
How has my way of working changed?
My studio is a start up, opened in February 2019.
I spent the whole year traveling to trade fairs in Europe and abroad to discover new proposals and new suppliers.
The beginning of 2020 was a stop, especially for those like me who live in Italy and work here in Lugano.
Our lockdown was strong and led me to a moment of reflection to understand how to develop a start-up from a distance and from home.
Surely the digitization of the business was the fulcrum for not getting stuck.
Social, online courses, updates, contract with web agency and participation in Contest, was my daily life.
My opportunity deriving from the crisis is the area in which we Interior Designers work.
The fact that everyone had to come together out of obligation and for safety in their homes, without going out or shopping, led to a shift of attention from the outside to the inside.
And here many have begun to want to improve, modernize, adapt their home to the new style.
So I created packages / consultancy to sell online and to design online.
There have been numerous requests for contact for information and designs that I am currently carrying out.
I had more time to design objects and products that I have patented today and that I intend to create, giving a point in favor to be more visible.
I wanted to capitalize on my experiences, especially past ones, to create and build a network of studies in the area that I am organizing and planning today as well as in Geneva, Zurich and Lugano, as well as Italy.
Here I am looking for other designers who want to team up and want to create something that does not stop even in the face of a lockdown, generating work and still moving the economy.
To return to Smart Working, how can we create smart offices at home?
At home, first of all it is necessary to define the area, the best thing is that there is a boundary between the space dedicated to work and that of private life, preferably physical.
You can create dividers with shelves, plants, screens, to have some privacy, which is also necessary for video calls.
Consider the position of the windows and then stand parallel to the light source to avoid glare or the glare effect on the screen.
The top that will become your desk is better if it does not have a white or glossy surface, again due to annoying reflections.
Pay attention to the relationship between the height of the top and the seat.
For lighting, the ideal would be to have a direct diffused light source, possibly natural, or an artificial ceiling with warm tones.
And in the workplace?
I participated in the Hi-hack Call4solution, an Open Innovation program dedicated to the technological evolution of Design also present at the Fuori Salone in Milan.
Design was mixed with technology, and here several designers were called to interpret the best solutions with design ideas to quickly achieve a safe return to post-Covid-19 workplaces.
Together with my collaborator, we presented a project that I called “Circular World” by making geometries and technology interact in a circular structure.
This project involves innovative start-ups that we have chosen from those available at the Hi-hack call.
In particular we have inserted ceiling modules for a visual, acoustic and aesthetic objective, together with technology for wireless charging on the desk, avoiding the usual turns of cables, and the use of a software specifically designed to safely manage the space that sweeps from booking, to environmental quality such as lights, curtains, thermal conditioning, air purification and audio-video systems.
I hope I have brought a fresh and useful testimony, and that it can lead to developments and collaborations also externally to the Artecasa event.
