Facciamo un piccolo balzo nel recente passato e atterriamo nel 1993 quando Gunnel Svensson decide di dare forma alla sua magia luminosa creata nella fabbrica nelle foreste dello Småland.

All’inzio il nome era Belysningsbolaget… ma 17 lettere era troppe ed erano anche difficili da pronunciare, ecco quindi che arrivò un rapido cambio di nome più amichevole e semplice, ma d’effetto: Bsweden.

Ho conosciuto Gunnel Svensson di persona alla Stockholm Furniture Fair durante la Stockholm Week Design di Febbraio 2023. Mi sono fermata nel loro stand attirata dalle forme scandinave con riflessi europei.

Con grande gentilezza mi ha raccontato degli studi al Politecnico di Milano e poi d’architettura d’interni in Danimarca. Ma lei nasce in un casa dove è circondata dal design. Infatti la sua famiglia è stata proprietaria di una azienda di mobili quasi centenaria: Svenssons a Lammhult.

La qualità del suo design è indiscutibile e ben presto le lampade Bsweden iniziano a viaggiare in molti luoghi del mondo e a vincere numerosi premi prestigiosi.

Tra le opere più belle ricordiamo il lampadario Kumulus di Peter Nilsson realizzato per il grande magazzino Harrod’s di Londra delle dimensioni di oltre sei metri.

Il Kumulus è presente anche all’Hotel Lisboa di Maccao e Terence Conran ha scelto Manhattan per il suo Great Estern Hotel. Il pendente disegnato da Gunnel Svensson dopo più di vent’anni è ancora uno dei best seller dell’azienda.

*Sven Lundh ha fondato l'azienda di mobili Källemo a Värnamo nel 1970. Källemo ha lanciato molti mobili famosi di designer di mobili scandinavi, ad esempio la sedia in cemento Concrete 1982 di Jonas Bohlin, la poltrona El Dorado di Mats Theselius e diverse sedie di John Kandell.

Let's take a small leap into the recent past and land in 1993 when Gunnel Svensson decides to give shape to the luminous magic he created in the factory in the forests of Småland.

At the beginning the name was Belysningsbolaget… but 17 letters was too many and they were also difficult to pronounce, so here came a quick change of name more friendly and simple, but effective: Bsweden.

I met Gunnel Svensson personally at the Stockholm Furniture Fair during the Stockholm Design Week in February 2023. I stopped by their stand attracted by Scandinavian shapes with European reflections.

With great kindness he told me about his studies at the Milan Polytechnic and then about interior architecture in Denmark. But she was born in a house where she is surrounded by design. In fact, his family owned an almost 100-year-old furniture company: Svenssons in Lammhult.

The quality of her design is unquestionable and soon Bsweden lamps start traveling to many places in the world and winning many prestigious awards.

Among the most beautiful works we mention the Kumulus chandelier by Peter Nilsson made for the Harrod's department store in London measuring over six meters.

Kumulus is also present at the Hotel Lisboa in Maccao and Terence Conran has chosen Manhattan for his Great External Hotel. The pendant designed by Gunnel Svensson after more than twenty years is still one of the best sellers of the company.

*Sven Lundh founded the Källemo furniture company in Värnamo in 1970. Källemo launched many famous furniture from Scandinavian furniture designers, for example the Concrete 1982 chair by Jonas Bohlin, the El Dorado chair by Mats Theselius and several chairs by John Kandell.
